Read the whole article, but the bottom line is, sadly, not surprising. When solving a problem requires going outside a persons ideological comfort zone, that person will often deny the facts and let the problem get worse. Its not just Republicans who do it, but in the case of climate change, ideological distaste for government regulation or action leads to denial by the GOP. Like the author of this article, I have always said that there are both regulatory and market-based solutions and vigorous partisan debate can lead us to policies to solve the problem. But without new policies, this problem will become more intractable and dangerous. Time to take off your partisan blinders!
