Read this article about Shigeru Ban, an architect who recently was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize for his work designing shelters after natural disasters in places like Rwanda, Turkey, India, China, Haiti, and Japan. His response to the award was extremely humbling. He stated: Im trying to understand the meaning of this ENCOURAGEMENT. Its not the award of achievement. I have not made a great achievement. It was inspiring to see how receiving this award for Mr. Ban was a way of encouraging his efforts to use his talents for the well being of humanity. He also stated that he is not against building monuments, but I think we can work more for the people. Architects are not designing temporary housing because we are too busy building for the privileged people. # Some Food for Thought
