Read your labels! If a product advertises "Low Fat" ask yourself - TopicsExpress

Read your labels! If a product advertises "Low Fat" ask yourself "What healthy nutrients does this have" before you toss that bag into your shopping cart. Take a box of Low Fat Fig Newtons for example: 70 Calories per Newton, 1 gram of fat, Zero Protein and 15 grams of Carbs. So if you eat just one of these tasty treats, something the average parent would give their child, you are consuming little fat and big carbs, with enough calories that you would have to do 10-15 minutes of slow paced cardio to burn off that single newton! This is often referred to as"Empty Calories". When choosing the right snacks, please read labels and pick items that have 3-7 grams of protein to every 70-120 calories, and include low fat and low carb, to ensure your body is being charged with energy boosting nutrients, not just empty calories followed by a carb crash.
