Reader Mail (border kids): After reading your column in the DMN it - TopicsExpress

Reader Mail (border kids): After reading your column in the DMN it finally happened. I HAD to respond. While I appreciate your care and concern for what is going on in our great nation and how it might relate to each of us personally, I have to tell you I COULD NOT DISAGREE with you more. While I always considered myself an independent the older I get the more left I lean. You see being born and raised in small town Texas with a very strong Christian faith and strong believer in our public education system-yes I am a teacher, I find the Republican party more and more oppressive, offensive, and just down right wrong on SO many issues. Considering the current platform (Republican) that I have read I can no longer just read, shake my head, and go on about my business of the day. So I would like for you to explain how it is you can even hint at President Obamas use of executive order being an overstep to do the very things we should be doing anyway knowing full well the reason for it in the first place? Most people know and have not forgotten the #1 priority of this GOP---to make sure the President can not get anything done. Including the very things the Republicans themselves have wanted, have written, and have actually even advocated while running for a particular office. That in and of itself would be reason enough for many to leave the party of NO(except of course if it benefits big corps) and that is just what is happening. You see when you fact check exactly what is going on and read the fine lines it becomes very clear that the President is doing exactly what he was elected(twice) to do. People are also aware that Obama has used executive order less than any president so far. Next the lame excuse the speaker gave for not bringing a bill up for vote is just that because as we know it would be the next presidents job to enforce this law. Its really embarrassing and sad that this is what is going on in a country as great as ours. That politics are more important than doing a job you were elected to do and one that is best for the country.
