Reading David Thomsons book Nichol Kiddman (yes, the distinguished British film scholar did write such a thing) and Christopher Orrs homage to the Coen Brothers in The Atlantic, reminds me of how many bad movies get made. The Coens miss as much as they hit. Ms Kiddman created a Virginia Woolf that is both a-historic and utterly believable (the Hours), then muffed the imitation of a lightweight TV character (Bewitched).
