Reading Nehemiah from the Bible that my maternal grandparents gave - TopicsExpress

Reading Nehemiah from the Bible that my maternal grandparents gave to me as a Christmas present in 1991. Its a Thompson Chain-Reference Bible. When they first ordered it for me (I knew they were getting it for me...and I was very excited about it), it was delivered by the present truck (UPS) and left outside their white brick home at the large black & white garage door. At that time, my grandparents owned a black bulldog named Big Boy (who, btw, was the arch-nemesis of my fathers large German Shepherd, Luther) . Big Boy found the holy package that afternoon while my grandparents were away from home and he SHREDDED it. Bible pages were everywhere in my grandparents beautifully kept and spacious yard when they returned that evening. Thankfully, they ordered me a new one Bible to replace the one destroyed. These Bibles, then and now, were not cheap! I dont know if Big Boy was worth it...but Im sure glad my grandparents thought I was :) Ive had this 2nd Bible ever since. (It is stained with orange juice when I spilled my breakfast on it while attending ASU).
