Reading Volunteers needed Each term, our more vulnerable readers - TopicsExpress

Reading Volunteers needed Each term, our more vulnerable readers participate in a Pause Prompt Praise Volunteer Reading Program. Students are given texts at their instruction reading age, which they read for home reading each night, as well as with a volunteer for 15 minutes each day. This term we have 23 students in the program and 14 places available and these are all with staff at the beginning or end of the day. Its not hard to help out, you simply donate 15 minutes of your time 4 or 5 days per week. You read with the same student each day using Pause Prompt Praise (training can be provided and we have cheat sheets for each volunteer) and its very rewarding to see students progress. If you are a parent who picks up their child from school each day, and comes early to get a park, the 3-3:15pm timeslot is the perfect opportunity for you to help a struggling reader, plus you will learn strategies that you can use when reading with your own children. If you think you can help, please reply either by comment or inbox. A name will be sufficient; I can look your number up on the system and give you a call. Alternatively, leave a message for Marni at the office.
