Reading an article about the feminization of the French Language - TopicsExpress

Reading an article about the feminization of the French Language when it comes to titles of professions. Lets be honest here, the lAcadamie Francaise is a boys club protecting a male-elitist language. When the idea was initially posed in 1984, they said non on principle. When the motion was presented again, they replied that not only was it pointless to feminize job titles, but it would destroy the language.... Yes, YES!! ( I cry sarcastically into the void) Because, you know, giving a woman the validity to proclaim I am woman in her profession is such a crime, not to mention it makes COMPLETE GRAMMATICAL SENSE to feminize something that applies to a feminine person noun. Its a point of anger for me, because even woman who are usually liberal call it un truc hyper femeinste I would vote for neutrality on the issue, but this is a Romance Language, based in the Latin language family. EVERYTHING has a gender. So feminization is the only way to satisfy both parties and create gender equality. I mean, I love you France, but you were about 20 years behind Quebec on this one, and they still use the word for carriage to describe automobiles. Plus, you just got on the gay marriage bandwagon and you -still- sterilize transgender people. But thats okay, you keep doin you. Ill be over here. -_- #FrenchMinorProblems #FrancophileProblems #QuelDommageMonCul
