Reading and prayers for Anzac Day! Psalms 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. John 15:13&14 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. #Both our Psalm and Gospel are appropriate for Anzac Day. Psalm 46 is a reminder that we must never fear anything as God will watch over us. This He does even in death. All we gotta do is trust Him. The Gospel refers to how Jesus laid down His life for you and I, one of the greatest sacrifices anyone could make for us. On Anzac Day, we remember the many soldiers who sacrificed their lives for you and I, those who have fallen, as well as those who returned. We thank God for their commitment so that we could live our lives of freedom and peace.# Kia inoi tatou, E TE ATUA kaha rawa, ka inoi atu matou ki a koe i tenei ra, mo au manaakitanga ki runga i nga whanau katoa e pupuri ana nga mamae katoa mai nga pakanga. Tukuna koa mai tou wairua atawhai, kia whakamama nga mamaetanga. Awhinatia e nga tangata e raruraru ana e tou Wairua Tapu, kia ahei katoa ratou ki nga huarahi nau e whakatuuwhera ma ratou. Ko Ihu Karaiti hoki, to matou Kaiwhakaora. AMINE. O God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks today for the peace and security we enjoy, we remember those who in time of war faithfully service their country. We pray for their families, and for ourselves whose freedom was won at such a cost. Make us a people zealous for peace, and hasten that day when nation shall not lift up sword against nation neither learn war anymore. This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the world: Jesus Christ our Redeemer, Amen. Kia tau ki a tatou katoa, te atawhai o to tatou Ariki o Ihu Karaiti, me te aroha a te Atua, me te whiwhinga tahi tanga ki te Wairua Tapu, ake, ake, ake. AMINE.
