Reading articles from The Economist and New York Times editions of March 1997, I guess we can draw many parallels between Mobutus last days...One particular line has cracked me up: ...it is almost possible, but not quite, to squeeze out a tear for Mobutu Sese Seko in his last days as the diminished dictator of Zaire. Everyone was cheating him, from his own children to the suppliers of the pink champagne he popped open each morning at 9. And someone says, the best thing we can learn from history is that man doesnt always learn from history. No wonder Arts are useless!
