Reading in Ephesians and realizing Paul had such a love for these - TopicsExpress

Reading in Ephesians and realizing Paul had such a love for these new churches. He had such a love for these converted Gentiles. Paul was well aware of the temptations that they faced in living a life for Jesus. Armed with this knowledge, Paul wrote letters to them to encourage them, to exhort them and to sometimes even admonish them. However his primary concern was that they not turn away from what they had been taught about Jesus. I fear this is not so different from the times we live in, back then there were many false teachers who were on the scene, trying to lure these Christians from the truth of God’s word. Today there are many false teachers doing the same thing. Paul knew that the foundation of Jesus’ teaching was based on love, a love that was (and still is) incomprehensible, unfathomable. Paul knew that love would keep them together in fellowship, as one body in Jesus Christ, and that the love of Christ would give them the grace to continue to live a life for Him. [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! Ephesians 3:19 In the verse above, Paul says that “the love of Christ … passes knowledge.” In other words, this means that we are not humanly capable of understanding the love of Jesus. His love is beyond our knowledge, our understanding, our emotions ---- we can never understand the depths of His love. But Paul tells us to pray about it, as he prayed. Even though we are not capable of understanding our holy God, we are given His Holy Spirit who will open our minds, lead us in truth, and fill us with His love. We, as followers in God’s only Son, are the temples of His Holy Spirit. Our prayers should be without ceasing, constantly asking Him to fill us with more of Him. We must ask to “be wholly filled and flooded with God Himself.” Something to think about! SELAH
