Reading news that an expelled former student leader of University Malaya is setting up a movement to create youth leaders that can one day take over the aging government and politicians, and run our beloved Malaysia. Student leader. What is that? This student leader was expelled and barred from sitting for his examinations, along with 7 others, for being involved in an opposition leaders attempt to barge in and speak on UM grounds. Im no scientist. Im not a UM graduate either. But as far as I know, if youre an exemplary student leader, you are supposed to lead your comrades in one thing: studies. Why are todays youth so engrossed with politics when they have not even proven themselves academically? Did parents send their boys to school to partake in politics? This student leader says that this movement will create the leaders of tomorrow. Be careful of what kind of leaders youre creating for the future. I question and doubt your statement saying our movement will not be biased towards any political party or alliance in particular. Why? Because your vision to create this movement was realized AFTER you felt that youve been wrongly dismissed by your institution, and the government. And history has proven many times over - movements that were created our of sheer anger and vengeance were more often than not ruled by hearts, not minds. And that, is dangerous. I personally do not favour individuals who say theyre able to serve the rakyat but do not have the experience in serving an employer as a basic foundation first to support their credibility. My idea of a leader, is someone who is of principles and substance, someone who acknowledges priorities, someone who understands that there is a time and place for everything. I do not support rebels, what more young mentah ones whove never even proven themselves as good followers, but is already having the intentions of being a leader. To this student leader, go forth and get your fellow youths who, like you, are channelling your youthful energy and exuberance inappropriately. I know one thing for sure, if I one day have a son like you - expelled and rebellious by nature, Id join my two hands together, palms up to the heavens, and ask God Almighty Ya Allah, what did I do so wrong for my child to do this to himself?.
