Reading peoples responses of how they felt at the end of a long - TopicsExpress

Reading peoples responses of how they felt at the end of a long distance hike brings up a HUGE issue for me-how to deal with the aftermath. When I finished the AT, I signed divorce papers and began a new life with a new man. I had financial struggles after the AT but did the best I could to prepare for the next one knowing that this time I wouldnt have to be alone. Hiking the PCT was the most difficult thing Ive ever done. It was also the most incredible experience of my life. I knew nothing would be the same afterward, but I wasnt prepared for this. I came back and my friends and family brush it aside. They arent proud of my accomplishments. They cant relate to what Ive been through. The man who was with me for most of those miles; the one person who could understand, isnt talking to me. He ended our relationship. Right now Im having a very difficult time dealing with the present. Im in flat Florida, isolated from the trails and hiking community that I love. I know it is temporary and in a year and 3 months Ill be on the CDT. In Pennsylvania, at least there was the PATC and other hiking groups. Im sorry, but I just dont get the same enjoyment out of the Florida Trail. Feeling isolated.
