Reading the bragging rights thread, among others, and the penny dropped: CoH / CoV is the Firefly of MMOs. Were going to be used as a cautionary tale--not that were terrible people or that CoV fans are jerks, but that NCSoft dropped a decade-long guaranteed revenue stream and bungled things so thoroughly by doing so that two or three other games got made to fill in the space in the marketplace theyd created. Somewhere in the last few months there was a Wall Street Journal article pointing out that Firefly fandom is still just as fervent now as it was when the show was on, if not more, and that Fox left hundreds of millions of dollars on the table by cancelling the show when it did. I think in the final analysis CoX is going to be that kind of thing too.
