Reading the news today, here is what I have to say: 1. If individuals learn to read, write, do basic math and work hard, they will have better chances in life. 2. We all need to take individual responsibility for ourselves as much as possible, and that will vary from person to person and time to time. 3. We all need to take responsibility for those who do not have the ability to take responsibility for themselves, but we better be very careful before deciding that they cant. 4. Actions speak louder than words. 5. Most of us would rather that someone else be responsible for insuring our happiness and success or at least that we would be luckier. 6.Thieves generally dont steal because they are poor; they are generally poor because they steal. 7. Life is unfair, we must work to make the results of our behavior as fair as possible. 8. You get what you subsidize. 9. Others respond to strength, not weakness. 10. Being cooperative helps others see your viewpoint; being belligerent is counterproductive. 11. The grass is always greener. Destroying the others grass doesnt make yours better. 12. You should apply the standards you have for yourself and your family to society and do what you can to help others meet them, which starts with holding those standards high for all.
