Reading this article looking for lessons learned, I learned that - TopicsExpress

Reading this article looking for lessons learned, I learned that headline writers are deceptive jerks! Although this was a before-and-after study, the roads always had bike lanes. Whats being studied is the removal of traditional bike lanes and the installation of separated left-side cycletracks, at the cost of narrowing eleven foot lanes to ten foot lanes. This was on streets with average rush hour travel speeds of twelve miles per hour (!!!). But the key improvement was that they removed on-street parking to add left-turn bays. Unsurprisingly, traffic flows a little better. This has nothing to do with bike lanes and everything to do with those turn bays.
