Ready for a Superlite Apex update? The Superlite Apex now - TopicsExpress

Ready for a Superlite Apex update? The Superlite Apex now available for order- with longitudinal transaxle for late model VW 4 and V6 engines both turbo and NA The car is based on a Gen2 Eclipse, and uses the passenger safety cell as a basis for a car that transforms the car into a mid-engined terror! The basic idea is that the Eclipse provides the really hard parts to do- the passenger safety cell, doors, OEM interior, etc. All the rest is replaced by parts in the kit, and drivetrain and suspension you supply. Essentially, you cut off the front and rear of the car, install the provided front and rear subframes, bond on the new panels, install the drivetrain, paint or wrap, and youre set! Suitable cars can be sourced for as little as a couple of hundred dollars, as the condition of the drivetrain is unimportant. If the glass, doors, and interior are good, the car is a good candidate for an Apex donor. But the biggest news is that the car will be setup for longitudinal transaxles from VW Passat and Audi A4 cars. These are available online for as little as $199. Call us for more details before you source one! The car will support both the manual 5-speed transaxles, as well as the automatics! Support for the automatics means the car is accessible to many more people than ever before. Both transaxles fit pretty much the entire range of VW engines, from 1,9l TDi diesel engines, to the ubiquitous and very powerful 1.8 turbo engines, all the way to the powerful and unique VR6. These transaxles will even fit the very latest VW/Audi/Porsche V6 engines, in particular the diesel variants. Bu we expect most builders will select the extremely popular 1.8l turbo engine, which is capable of over 400 HP with just a turbo upgrade kit. Even the relatively obscure VW W8 (yes, a W8) can fit in the car! But if the extremely broad VW line of engines isn’t suitable, you can always roll your own. Maybe a rotary, or Honda S2000, or even a Hartley V8! However, factory support for any other engine package will be limited to the production of optional adapter plates for the most popular engines- the rest is up to the builder. The kit includes all body pieces, front and rear chassis subframes, engine mount kits, rear deck window and lighting package, cable gearshift system, body adhesive and trim templates to make trimming the front and rear clips a breeze.. Additional options at this time include a choice of Forgestar wheels, carbon front splitter and rear diffuser covers, ISIS chassis wiring harness, and custom high strength axles, with more to be developed as car sales warrant. Donor parts required besides the Mitsubishi/Talon and VW drivetrain are Corvette C5 control arms and suspension uprights, and brakes. The Corvette parts are easily sourced from recyclers who can ship a pallet of selected parts from low-mileage cars, or you can order all-new parts from several discount Chevy parts outlets. Pricing for the initial batch of 20 cars will be held at $9995 Call the factory today to reserve your place in line, and start planning for a build of what is surely one of the most exciting component cars to be unveiled in a long time!
