Real Power: Patience is better than power, and controlling one’s temper, than capturing a city.(Proverbs 16:32 HCSB) The best control that we can gain in life is simply this: self-control. Life comes with so many pressures that we can find it very difficult to stop spinning. Sometimes, we are just unable to rein in our thoughts, emotions or actions. Nevertheless, if we can learn -through trial and error - how to control ourselves, we will immediately feel more in control of our circumstances. And, there is help for us. Cultivating our relationship with the Holy Spirit (through prayer, study, meditation and discipline) will boost our ability to develop the characteristics which only the Spirit of God can give. One of which is self-control. Real power isnt displayed by always speaking and moving; but rather, real power is knowing when to remain silent and be still. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22, 23 NKJV)
