Real time water quality data of recent storm event shows classic first flush of salt runoff from streets and roads. Conductivity peaks at 1600+ uhmos, with below 500 being the desired value, 800 being our alert value for an urban stream. The first graph is flow, the second graph shows conductivity over time. Salt in water from deicing operations increases the ability of the water to conduct electrical current. Its associated with high dissolved solids which is not good for fresh water fish and aquatic insects.
