Reality Check- Events of yesterday should be an eye opener to ALL - TopicsExpress

Reality Check- Events of yesterday should be an eye opener to ALL Kenyans. Corruption is real. However, there is one reality that Kenyans should confront. We can ONLY and I mean ONLY deal with Corruption the moment we stop being TRIBAL. One of the key reasons I fully support President Uhuru Kenyatta is this- he is the only Politician that has a track record of NEVER using political office to amass wealth. Whether it is because he found himself born into plenty and thus had no need to amass extra wealth- or whether it is out of his personal character- that is for God to judge. But one thing for sure- I can speak with full authority that Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is the man that will lead Kenyans in slaying the dragon of corruption. However, Uhuru can only perform the task of slaying that Dragon when Kenyans get liberated from their Tribal Brokers. This is due to the fact that the political elite have perfected the art of forming tribal groupings with the aim of consolidating power in order to bargain for positions. Once the tribal brokers get their portion, they start munching and if the munching is interrupted, the political set up is affected. During the final years of Kanu, I was a writer for the Political Paper- The Weekly Review. During those days of the Second Liberation I interacted with several Young Turks They kept giving us powerful visions of how they would tackle corruption and teach Kanu how proper management is done. Ten Years after Kanu was ousted the guys that were shouting all over about fighting graft- are now wealthy, thanks to shady deals. When Raila and his team took over half of Government in 2008 many thought that Tinga would wipe out all corrupt networks and bring sanity- at least on his part of the coalition. However what Kenyans witnessed was greed and mega deals never seen before. Guys like Orengo who were seen as Saints in the Anti Graft War turned out to be the biggest disappointment. What we are witnessing is not new, but has been happening for long. In fact there are several tribal brokers trying to consolidate their voting blocks in preparation for 2017. There is some guy that brought down some factory and is currently messing a certain county. He seems to be interested in having his own tribal block. There is some suspected drug dealer that is in the process of consolidating his base, after getting some top position in one of the many political parties. These men of dubious backgrounds may end up in senior positions, should their voting blocks back them in 2017. The question then is- how do you expect people who know corruption and grabbing as the ONLY way of acquiring wealth to change when they get power? Kenyans should simply wake up from their fantasy world and do what the People of Ukraine did. Ban poor people from seeking top office- and electing Billionaire President Petro Poroshenko. Ukraine- just like Kenya started off with the Orange Democratic Movement that swept away a regime that they thought was corrupt. But the hungry leaders in the Orange Side started munching- then they started changing leadership after leadership- only to realise that ALL Politicians are the same. They then decided to kick out the so called hustlers and voted in a billionaire. They argued that a hustlers- like the Orange Democratic Movement- will first seek to fill their tummies before thinking of the masses. That is the reality that Kenyans should face. Uhuru Kenyatta being a billionaire- and having no record of using his power to amass wealth- should be seen as a SOLUTION to Kenyans/ whether Luo Kamba Miji Kenda, Meru Kalenjin or Kikuyu. If we remain in our tribal cocoons and select tribal leaders to serve as brokers on our behalf- what do you expect? Whether the brokers are Luos Merus Kambas Kisiis or Coasterians- their primary focus is to fill their tummies first. Dear Kenyans, wake up smell the coffee- and just like the Ukranians did by supporting President Petro Poroshenko let us deal DIRECTLY with Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta- as a person and not through brokers. That is when we will fully feel the impact of having a President, and First Family that desires to serve not to amass.
