Really enjoyed discovering Peter Gerlacs resources online a while ago and am just digging into some of his concepts and videos. I particularly like this video that addresses some peoples tendency to label other people with negative energy. I like how he cleans up that idea, and the fuzzy, vague thinking that is behind it. I do not find his approach or phrasing in the later part of this video with regards to how to address others behaviour that we dont like, helpful at all, I still hear a lot of static labelling, judgments and you statements, which I imagine would not be easy for most people to receive and connect with. I would definitely work on that part. However, I see a lot of value in this video for at least helping counter the misconception or automatic response that whenever we react with upset to a behaviour of another that we dont like, we should automatically blame/diagnose the other with having negative energy or that they are a negative person. To me, this is another product of the new age (and other) movements that has caused many to be mislead away from self responsibility, and distracts one from looking at ones own issues, perceptions, feelings and needs in any situation. If interested, this video is worth a watch as are many of his others; as well as his non-profit Break the Cycle webpage devoted to helping with healing deep, long-reaching internal wounds created by early childhood abuse, neglect and emotional abandonment. Take what works for you, leave the rest, is a great motto. His work is heavily founded on the psychology concept that we each have a True Self as well as many Sub Selves (which developed as we grew up, to serve us for various reasons, like self protection, etc.) that we make all of our day-to-day choices from; and while I am interested in exploring this further, right now to me it seems a bit overly-complex and possibly even contrived. Looking forward to learning more about this. Thought my friends who are into doing a lot of self-exploration and relationship work (with self and others) would appreciate this video.
