Really good wine. And a whipping. At some point you will (or did already) leave home and start your career, or maybe even start a business. Did you know that Jesus basically did that too? He sets off on his own and after finding some guys to join him, his first stop was at a friend’s wedding. Unfortunately they ran out of wine, which back then, was a major no-no. No big deal for Jesus, he just quietly and miraculously turned about 150 gallons of water into really good wine. Problem solved. Then, his second stop? Church of course! Many of you may accuse the church of being money hungry and abusing collections…right? Well then you and Jesus would get along just fine, because when he got there, he found they were taking money from people in a very bad way. So he left church, made himself a good whip, and went back…to church…with a whip. Can you say anger management classes? Well he didn’t need the classes because while He was mad, but he did not lose his temper. He acted intentionally, he did not react irrationally & be cruel. AND, he sure made. His. point. What is his point? That PEOPLE are more important to him than the RULES are. Wine is not bad, drunkenness is, and YOU get to choose. Money is not bad, greed is, and YOU get to choose. The rules are for your protection – it is too bad that so many people abuse the rules. Jesus desires a relationship with you, not a religion you follow. Hateful things come from religion. Freedom and love come from relationship.
