Really interesting device on IndieGoGo right now; a solar-powered Wi-Fi hotspot that receives satellite broadcasts from space, to give people the Outernet for free. Its not the entire internet, but rather the critical information, like news and a huge amount of publicly available books and other literature, to people in remote areas who couldnt possibly afford a data plan. It can never be shut down by natural disasters, or internet outages, whether from government censorship or other factors. Lots of great implications here. Check it out.
