Really miss the POSB of my parents generation back in the 80s and 90s before it was acquired by DBS Bank. Living, Breathing Asia. Doing your transactions at POSBanks back then was a simple process compared to today where you have to endure the long waiting times due to the many forms customers have to fill in just to replace ones ATM or debit card. Wouldnt it be more productive to have one combined single form for both the Personal Data Protection Act and the card replacement form? Also, theres another thing that really bugs most consumers like me. Both POSB and DBS bank tellers insist that it is part of their job to promote general insurance products by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (#MSIG) such as its We Care Personal Accident Protection Plan etc. but this only prolongs the waiting time for customers in the queue when every bank teller (be it senior or junior staff) begins to introduce almost every single customer at the counter (immediately after the completion of the transaction) about MSIGs general insurance products. Are bank tellers required to meet sales targets as well hence the reason why they are aggressively promoting these insurance products to the public? Why cant POSB and DBS delegate the promotion of these general insurance products to its team of relationship / sales managers so that its bank tellers can just focus only on handling customers transactions? This system will definitely shorten the waiting times at almost all of the busy branches of both POSB and DBS. It is very frustrating when the public has to wait for more than an hour, sometimes up to 2 hours, to finally be served by a bank teller at the counter who then takes up your precious time in getting you to purchase a general insurance product. However, I have no axe to grind over MSIGs general insurance products offered exclusively to POSB and DBS customers. No doubt MSIGs insurance product such as its WE CARE Personal Accident Protection Plan fits the needs of low-income citizens like me considering that one is getting a 24-hour worldwide accidental protection inclusive of both local and overseas accidental medical expenses claims at an affordable monthly premium of SGD $19.50 inclusive of GST with no medical check-ups required, no contractual obligations and easy notice of cancellation initiated by the customer at any point of time.
