Reaping Verse for Today: In that day, declares the Lord, you will call Me my husband; you will no longer call Me my master. I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked. Hosea 2:16 & 17 ... a week or so back (10/14), we learned that the Hebrew word for husband, as it applied to the expression of being master, is, but for the presence of a central apostrophe the same as baal, the deviant false god worshiped by the apostate Jews. This passage makes full use of that distinction that God wishes His children to understand - no longer will mention be made of Him as their master but only as their husband, ensuring that the word baal will not cross their lips - ever. Hosea is writing in the aftermath of the fall of Samaria and his word is for the masses in Judah and beyond who belong to God, warning His beloved to turn away from their unfaithful relationships, because their Husband will forgive them and welcome them back with open arms. Hosea has done this with his wife, and Gods love and commitment far exceeds that of a simple man - how awesome that our Gods attention to detail encompasses every aspect of our life with Him, down to even the smallest element!
