Reason # 2 as to why August 18th is such a great date: 1980 - YES released one their best and (still to this day) most controversial record, DRAMA. Due to the lack of Jon Anderson and his elfin friends and Rick Wakemans noodle fingers and velvet crushed cape, this album caused a furor and division amongst YESfans. Even more controversial to YESfans was the choice in Anderson/Wakeman: dynamic New Wave/Synth Pop duo the Buggles super genius producer/writer/vocalist Trevor Horn and his partner Geoff Downes on keys. The combination of YES Prog Rock styling and meticulous instrumentation with the Buggles pop sensibility, clever lyrics and brilliant production work, DRAMA is great record front to back. And its my favourite YES album (along with Tales From Topographic Oceans).
