Before he became ArtPrize’s Executive Director, Gaines was formerly Director of Festivals at the American Film Institute, Director of the Hawaii International Film Festival, a past executive at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, and Director of Festival Strategy and Business Development for IMDB, where he supervised the global expansion of Withoutabox. Speaker #2 is: Grand Rapids filmmaker, Joel Potrykus, travels the world, entering—and winning—film festivals around the world. Potrykus’ first feature, Ape, won Best New Director at the 2012 Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland and was shown worldwide the next two years. Before his follow-up feature, Buzzard, even premiered at SXSW, it was picked up by distributor Oscilloscope Laboratories. Speaker #3 is: Anthony E. Griffin is one of Grand Rapids most prolific filmmakers. He and his company UnSAFE Film Office have produced and photographed more than a dozen feature length projects over the past decade.In 2010, Griffin was named Michigan Filmmaker of the Year by Muskegon Film Festival for his body of work and for his contributions & support of the Michigan film community.
