Reasons for those unique behavior patterns: Let us try to analyze the reasons behind these unusual activities:- Regarding the first, a devotee once asked him, ”Prabhu, we know that reading and listening elevates us as the roaming mind concentrates on higher thought but why do you need it for so long hours? Gosaiji answered, “My child, reading and listening keeps my mind on the surface otherwise the blank mind (chitta) goes into deep trance (samadhi) and gets out of this grasp frame. Long hours of trance make it difficult to sustain this body. By reading together you elevate and I come down. 2nd – Gosaiji said, One needs sleep to give rest to the body and mind. My body is mostly at rest these days. At night the mind gets complete rest during meditation and trance, more than one gets in sleep. 3rd – The scriptures say, A spiritual aspirant should either face east or north, eastward when he is desire bound (Sakam) and northwards when desire less (Nishkam). A saint who has attained salvation, all directions is the same to him. But when the saint after attaining salvation becomes a benevolent donor of spiritual power to aspiring disciples under the authority of god, he is known as ‘Dakshina Moorthy’. Sadguru faces southward (Dakshin), the recipient disciples face the Guru i.e. north as usual. 4th &5th – Lord Krishna says, “The person who aspires to come back home has to travel through a five fold path i.e. Karma (selfless work), Gnyan (knowledge), Yoga (union) and further to it Bhakti (devotion) and Prem (love), if he longs to relish the joy of becoming my playmate. Goswami Prabhu has already shown to the world the first three fold path of Nirvana and now proceeds further to show the path of devotion and love for god to those who are non desirous of dissolution(nirvana) and possess an intense longing to be a party to the eternal play (Leela) of god along with his mates. 6th – Goswami being a renunciate himself live with a still enlarged family and that too on ‘Akash-Vrittee’ to prove the truth that god takes care of his devotees if one surrenders to Him. ’Akash -Vrittee’ does not even permit saving for the next day and yet nobody starves. It may be said here that once a rich person (Kali Krishna Thakur) came to Gosaiji with a purse of hundred thousand rupees and requested him to accept the gift. Gosaiji politely regretted that that he will not be able to spend the amount within a day as he is on’ Akash Virtee’ neither he is on a state of mind to search out needy persons and give away the wealth. He advised the generous person to donate it to a charitable trust or a mission directly instead of giving it through his hands. He is the same Bijoy Krishna Goswami who as a British social reformer went from door to door collecting donations for the welfare of the poor and the spiritually ignorant and bears all outrages on his health, mind and family for the noble cause. However it does not mean that he shunned from rendering his services to mankind. Only the nature and the stratum of service changed from physical, moral and intellectual to spiritual upliftment and that too for those desirous of finding path for salvation.
