Reasons why Buhari will be sentence to not less than 28years in prison. What is Perjury? Perjury, a Criminal offense, also known as forswearing, is the intentional act of swearing a false oath or of falsifying an affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing. For example, it is perjury to lie about ones age or certificate in a sworn affidavits. Perjury is considered a serious offence as it can be used to usurp the power of the courts, resulting in miscarriages of justice. Section 118 of the Nigerian Criminal Code reads: Any person who commits perjury is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years. If the offender commits the offence in order to procure the conviction of another person for an offence punishable with death or with imprisonment for life, he is liable to imprisonment for life. Buhari swore an affidavits that his educational certificates are with the Nigerian Army but the Army refuted with facts that Buharis certificates are not with them. The Army went further to show that he came into the Army without any authentic certificate and that he claimed to pass all his WASC papers but they never saw the originals. Here Buhari is liable of both perjury (14 years imprisonment) and forgery (another 14 years imprisonment) . Also, he falsified his records to INEC by sending false affidavits to a constituted authority. He also does not meet the basis constitutional requirement to hold any elective positions in Nigeria. As such, Buhari stands automatically disqualified from the presidential race. This is what true CHANGE is all about. Disqualify Buhari and send him to Jail!
