Reasons you should delete me from your friends list: 1) You have at some point said: The Michael Brown case is not about race. Stop playing the race card. You are willfully ignorant of institutional racism in Ferguson and in the US justice system/prison industrial complex when information abounds on the internet and elsewhere. For example: ago.mo.gov/VehicleStops/2013/reports/161.pdf alternet.org/civil-liberties/young-black-males-21-times-more-likely-be-shot-police-whites online.wsj/articles/SB10001424127887324432004578304463789858002 2) You have evoked MLK as a way to police the response of protestors, which is not only intellectually dishonest and ahistorical but a violent and abusive reminder that the state devalues black lives since despite his so-called respectable demeanor MLK faced violence, was jailed, and was eventually assassinated. 3) You have criticized the looting happening in Ferguson without commenting on any of the actual issues at hand. Instead of contributing to important conversations about how to prevent racism and police/state violence you are instead lending your voice to the image of black rage that dehumanizes black people and allows for the continued oppression of entire communities. Also, nobody asked you for your opinion about the best way to stand up to a problem that you will never face and that does not affect you. 4) You have at some point said: Ooooh, suddenly everybody on Facebook has a law degree!!! In fact, many people with law degrees have commented on the utter stupidity of the grand jurys decision in this case, including the National Bar Association which has issued a statement calling for charges to be brought against Wilson. And that would make perfect sense if youd taken the time to educate yourself before opening your mouth.
