Recalling the deadly earthquake and tsunami combination in Japan on March 11, 2011 at 3pm (JST). On the mid-afternoon of March 11, 2011, a dangerous 9.0 earthquake shook Northern Japan. The epicentre is 130km out to sea but the quake is still felt 230km away in Tokyo. Few minutes later, news breaks of a tsunami warning. The whole Northern Pacific Ocean was on alert. The quake and tsunami killed nearly 150,000 people, affected five power plants in the danger zone with Fukushima hardest hit. Three nuclear reactors of Fukushima exploded. Until now, the remains of the reactors continue to spew out lethal radiation
