Recap of my activities: During the whole of last week, I have attended 3 activities as follows. 1. In Nairobi, as a committee member (General Purpose) it was capacity building on Legislative process which dwelt on a why EAC laws do not get implemented. For me it was a good opportunity to get more in sight on how laws are made. 2. In Entebbe, as a member of CTI committee) we visited CASSOA Hd office to understand issues on Civil Aviation and Air Transport. CASSOA, as a EAC regional body deals with harmonisation of policies, rules and regulations to meet the international standards in civil aviation, implement measures for control and protection of the EAC airspace, among others. The Commitee output will finally be tabled in the coming EALA assembly in DSM this month. 3. I was also in Arusha as a member of GPC to attend EAC pre budget conference for the Financial year 2015/16. The objective of the conference was to interact with different EAC organs/institutions/departments on their priority objectives for the financial year 2015/16. Among key priorities were: Towards the Monetary Union...The EAC Monitoring Institute and Statistical Bureau will be established; To have in place administrative mechanism towards Single Customs Territory; Constitution making process for EAC political Federation and others...further inputs will be submitted by delegates to EAC Secretariat. The outcome of the conference will submitted and approved by the EAC Council of Ministers. Shy-Rose Bhanji EALA MP-Tanzania.
