Recap of the first lesson of Paradigm Shift, “Seeing a Beautiful Garden.” Introduction Much of how we view events, people and the world around us is based on our approach to the issue. Change the underlying premise, and suddenly everything we experience and everyone we meet is seen in a different light. In this course we will introduce the Rebbes transformational perspective on six issues. We begin with how we view the world in which we live. Optimist, Pessimist, Realist We may choose or be inclined to view things with an optimistic perspective or a pessimistic one. But what is the Reality? The Rebbe taught a different approach to Reality. By using this as our foundation, we will be able to see the positive in almost every situation. The World - G-ds Garden of Goodness The Song of Songs refers to our turbulent world as a garden. G-d is constantly recreating this world with his Goodness and Kindness, which then translates this world into being one of Goodness and Beauty. Yet it might take some effort on our part to locate the goodness amidst the pain. What elements might challenge this concept? Human Shortcomings & Challenges If the world is Good why are we challenged to do what is right? G-d desired to be in a world where his presence is not felt, and where we must strive to transform it to reveal how every part of the universe is in harmony with its divine essence. Because we are human, we have the opportunity to make that transformation within ourselves and thus in the world around us. Take a new perspective to the challenge and adversity and instead of seeing them as negative, see them as opportunities for growth and we can then channel them in that direction. Human Suffering We do not attempt to explain or G-d forbid justify the suffering and hardships that one might have. But we should not allow them to be the defining character and to overwhelm the goodness in our lives. Knowing that we live in G-ds Garden gives us the strength to recognize the the good that exists, to define life by its positive elements and to carry on fulfilling the purpose of our creation. Conclusion The Rebbe showed us the Reality that this world is G-ds beautiful garden. We understand that we do not inherently see it that way and are challenged to have that perspective. By using it as our guideposts, we can find the goodness and opportunity that exists in every situation. We can transform how we approach every situation.
