Received a 60% for a discussion based lab that I came into very well prepared and in which I did my best to provide intelligent and insightful comments within the presentation. However, our scores were based solely on how many times we said something, so raising your hand and saying things like mmm corn is an example, allowed some students to receive a 100%. When I emailed my professor suggesting that this form of grading is skewed and does not accurately depict understanding of the material, she told me tough luck. I have been working my ass off in this class all semester and currently have a C in the class. I am so frustrated with my professor and disappointed in this class, and I feel like the focus is not on my education but rather my adherence to an arbitrary set of rules. This feels like a high school course.
