Received a great question from a parent today about their 6th graders schedule, so Im sharing the response. When you receive your students schedule, and it shows that things wrap up at 3, that is to allow for closing circle each day. Closing circle is an Expeditionary Learning best practice that allows time to gather your thoughts. For our students it might include how the day went, reflecting on / be reminded of assignments, and/or, what they might need to prep for the next day / week. Then students will gather their belongings and be dismissed at 315 Monday through Thursday, and 2 pm on Friday.
