Received some great news this afternoon. Kim infection, as per the ICU doctor was caused by E-Coli, which is naturally occurring in her digestive tract. She will be transferred back to The Penthouse, Wilmot Cancer Center, later this afternoon. She is no longer considered neutropenic and if she can remain fever free for 48 more hours, she may be released as early as Wednesday depending on her blood work! Were not rushing into anything, but keeping our spirits high. We have an invitation to spend Thanksgiving Dinner with family, and life savers, Molly Parietti Scharf and Mike Scharf so depending on her recovery we could be home as early as Friday. If Kim can keep the Leukemia in remission, well have monthly visits for about 2 years and then itll begin to subside as the length of time increases. We have already considered major life-style changes, and LESS STRESS in our lives. Our lofty goal of potentially attempting a One-Half Wineglass Marathon next October will be in our forefront, but only if her oncology team advises so. Our goal is to keep AML in the rear view mirror for the next 60 or so years! Her strength and resilience continues to amaze me and we thank everyone, too many to list individually, for your constant prayers, support of our family from Vermont to Long Island to Buffalo and errands, cleaning and babysitting (Linda Crowe, Kathy Black Keech and Savannah Storm affectionately known as Savannah Bo-Banna to Victoria & Caitlin. And last, but not most certainly not least my sister Aunt Bunny, Mary Ellen Forgione and her family who selflessly gave up their entire summer and the additional trips during Kims consolidation rounds and recovery to help our family when we needed it most.
