Received the sad news of King Abdullah bin Abdulazizs passing early this morning in Davos. The late King Abdullah will be remembered as a great leader for his initiative in promoting inter-faith dialogue and greater understanding among people of many different faiths and beliefs. His Majesty always had the stability and security in the Middle East and other Islamic nations in mind and devoted his life to serve his people and country. This earned the love and respect of his fellow countrymen and the Islamic ummah for the prosperity and development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We will continue to build on King Abdullahs legacy and contributions in strengthening the brotherly relationship between Malaysia and the Kingdom or Saudi Arabia. At this hour of grief and sorrow, on behalf of the Government and the people of Malaysia, I would like to convey my deepest condolences and sympathy to His Majesty King Salman and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our thoughts and prayers are with His Majesty King Salman and the rest of His Majestys family members. May Allah Almighty grant his soul eternal peace, forgiveness and place him in Al-Jannah. I wish the WEF a productive event as I have decided I will be leaving immediately for Riyadh from Davos.
