Received this by email this morning; Why dont you try sponsoring British Irish Welsh Scottish people you My reply; I am happy to supply British citizens to UK taxi companies, but the fact is since May 2004, I have had 0 Irish, 0 Welsh, 2 Scots and 0 English apply for the thousands of vacancies that I have advertised during this period. Incidentally, both Scots that did apply failed to take up the offer. Taxi companies across the UK advertise in the local press and to quote one client of mine, I spend £1000s of pounds a month advertising my company in our local paper, including front page banner headlines, that scream DRIVERS WANTED, to no effect. I have never had a single applicant. Others use their local jobcentres to advertise vacancies. To quote another, the only people that turn up are the freaks with tattooed faces, piercings all over their heads, ears with great holes in them like some south American head hunter, those that have no interest in getting a job, those that only turn up in order to prove they are looking for work in order to stay on benefits. If you are in the taxi industry, you will know that a decent living can be had IF you put the hours in. Maybe not as good as years ago, but still pretty good. Taxi companies cannot grow without drivers. There is no point your phones ringing off the hook, if you havent got the drivers to cover the work. The EU citizens that I supply are polite, presentable, decent hardworking men and women. They have the same right to work in the UK as you have to go and work in France, Germany or Spain, the only difference is, is that they are prepared to get off their arses and do it.
