Receiving the Hard Truth 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “and My people - TopicsExpress

Receiving the Hard Truth 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” Have you ever had a true friend who had to give you hard truth? If so, you know that even though the words may be painful, it will be worth it to push through the pain to hear and understand the heart behind them. Would you be surprised if I told you that sometimes God has to tell us hard things? But, before you bail on your friendship with God, can I reassure you that it will be worth it to push through the temporary pain for eternal reward? In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God offers us a path to restoration. It is quite clear and, at the same time, quite painful. “humble themselves” – This simple suggestion comes with a great price. We must realize that man’s struggle with pride goes back to the Garden of Eden. We inherited it and will battle against it until the Lord calls us home. The opposite of pride is humility. Humility is not something we are naturally attracted to – hence the God (supernatural) calls us to it! We cannot naturally, in our own effort, approach God. He initiates the path forward! The other steps in the process to reconciliation come easier once the humbling is complete! Praying and seeking His face almost instantly follow and, then, as you get close to God, the act of repentance is produced as a fruit. Ask God to show you any areas of your life where you need to humble yourself today. As He does, confess those, and begin to ask His forgiveness and wisdom as you continue on a path of reconciliation! The short-term pain is well worth the long-term gain!
