Recent posts have spoken about culture at Athena GTX. Id like to continue to talk about this. Just a comment or two on this injectable sponge technology to stop bleeding. One of my good friends John Steinbaugh is part of this innovative approach and product which in part evolved out of his long career as an Army medic. Whether you are a supporter of this or not, it is the drive behind it that impresses me as well. I was flying back from a Florida Business trip this weekend (no spring break for this guy!) and happened across an article on attitude and innovation in business that I think was both enlightening and encouraging. John was one colleague of Athena GTX that truly typified an enormous commitment to the wounded warriors he served for many years as are many of our customers. Although I have never walked in their shoes, it seemed that a parallel was apparent. One medic had also shared with me his experiences in trying to save a soldiers life with a reverse engineered product made by a company to try to shave a few dollars off the cost. In that case his commitment to save that life was in the hands of someone that perhaps truly did not understand either commitment nor motivation properly. In business, like in the elite warriors and medics that serve their fellowmen daily in remote areas of the world, what we truly need in business is teammates that share a bold commitment to do whats right, and are intensely motivated to succeed. If one truly understands these words and what they mean, they manifest integrity in all they do. It is with that integrity where they truly grasp what success is, and how it can deeply motivate one to reach out to goals and aspirations uncommonly seen today. Honor and integrity. Honoring something or someone is apparent for all to see. Integrity is what you do when no one is looking. This is the heart condition of those that have been the most successful in our business......regardless of how much money they make. Food for thought.
