Recently, I attempted to put together a Christmas Market place, to give local business owners somewhere to advertise their goodies, and a bite of the Christmas pie. There was some success is some areas, but not all unfortunately. But I gave it a try. You dont know, if you dont go. One thing I did learn from my attempt though. I must have trod on someones toes, as a complaint was lodged against Albany Have a Chat, and halting some access to the market page. Which leads me to wonder. Why would someone lodge a complaint against us, when all we are trying to do is make people more aware of what we have available in our beautiful part of the world? We are all small businesses trying to help each other, you with your variety of goodies you either sell or make and sell, us (AHaC admin) with ideas (I dont have to run past a boss first), all of us wanting the same thing, to have business success and make an income. I cant see why the admin from this page, who put in a lot of time and effort making this page an interesting and entertaining one, charge a small fee for advertising on the Market place. It seems its okay if I pay to advertise on Facebook, (which is fair, as without Facebook there would be no Albany Have a Chat), and its okay for the stall holders to make money from our ideas, but its not okay if we charge a small fee. The fee was only to cover the advertising charges I was paying to Facebook. To the person who lodged the complaint, I say thank you. You have given me the confidence to give it another go. The complaint has come from a small business in Albany, We know which one it was, as they were the only ones I requested a fee from.
