Recently I had a great opportunity to work with Mervyn Whitley on his emotive spoken word piece named Halo. Mervyn called me about 5 days before he was supposed to shoot his video. Unfortunately his original videographer was unable to make it and Mervyn needed to find someone to take his place. I took the assignment, and, at 5am on a Saturday morning, with Baz Mantis operating another camera, and on just the third take, we captured some really nice images for Mervyn. Technically, we had a few problems with audio as there was no mixer that we could take a feed from and it was a case where there were quite a few cables but nothing could actually connect to anything else - so were were relegated to using a single shotgun mic to capture the entire performance. Far from ideal - but we managed to massage the audio somewhat in post production with the help of Tim at Colourfield Studios and Jimmy Richards. The original performance was supplemented with additional footage of the two wonderful singers, Jimmy Richards and Stephanie Leypoldt and edited together to form the final piece.
