Recently I have become much more critical of the hot word diversity. While academia talks a good talk about wanting to increase diversity, what is the intension and meaning of diversity? Do they merely want more black and brown faces in predominantly white spaces? Or is there space for the different ways of viewing the world that a diverse array of students bring with them to flourish? Or is their presence only tolerated long enough for them to become indoctrinated into the worldview and way of knowing of the dominate paradigm?
