Recently I read The Circle series by Ted Dekker and one of the main themes was the Great Romance. The Great Romance is the love that Elyon (The representation of God in the book) has towards us and the love that we should give to others. God loves us so much and in the book it is represented by steps: HE CHOOSES HE PURSUES HE WOOS HE PROTECTS and HE LAVISHES At the beginning of time God CHOSE us and every day he CHOOSES us to be his warriors and disciples. Before we gives our hearts to God he is constantly PURSUING us as we are to PURSUE him for every minute of our lives. When we give God our hearts he WOOED us we fell instantly in love with him and he WOOS us for the rest of our existence on Earth and in Heaven. After our hearts are his he PROTECTS us even though the storms of life come and shakes us we stand firm on God as he PROTECTS us from the enemy’s flaming arrows and deceptions. And lastly God LAVISHES us we do not deserve and of what he has done in our lives or any of what he will do but because of love for us he not only forgave us but sacrificed his son to do it. John 15:13- Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. God love is and was so great that he became human and laid down his life not for his friends but for his enemies, the ones who betrayed him.
