Recently I was asked this question: “If you could only have one gun, what would it be?” After getting over the shock of visualizing my collection dissolving, I gave it some thought and decided it would be a Remington 870 in 12 gauge. I think a shotgun is the most versatile weapon available. With that gun I can use bird shot for quail, doves & pheasant. I can use slugs for deer or other large game. I can also use slugs and buckshot for two-legged varmints. In addition, there is a huge array of specialty munitions like flechette rounds, gas, breaching rounds, bean bags and even Tasers. I like a pump because some semi-autos can be finicky in functioning with different loads. The 870 will fire anything and function as long as I don’t screw it up. So yeah, if I only had one weapon, I’d take my 870. What do you think? If you could only have one gun, what would it be and why?
