Recently I was doing some research, and helping a friend with her own work, at the Tri-State Genealogical & Historical Society, in Newell, West Virginia. I discovered several obituaries regarding the Morlan family. I am posting transcriptions of them here... If you have not been to check the records and books at the Society...I recommend you pay them a visit. They have a variety of record types, including materials for Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Charles Morlan Lisbon- Charles M Morlan, 86, of state Route 45, passes away at 9:10 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a recent illness. Mr. Morlan was born Oct . 2, 1923, in Lisbon, a son of the late Charles and Leora (Morris) Morlan and had lived his entire life in the area. During WWII, Mr Morlan served as a member of the U.S.Army, 135th Army Airways Communication System as a Radio Mechanic. He was also a member of St Jacobs United Church of Christ. Mr Morlan worked as a Union Electrician out of te East Liverpool union hall and later worked as a Computer technician with IBM for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Naomi (Bowman) Morlan; his son, Mark V. Morlan of Lisbon; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. The family will receive family and friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home. No funeral service will be observed. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery. Obit appeared in East Liverpool Review, Friday, 21 May 2010.
