Recently I was inform by my close buddy Shahril Tan that he is building a new audio room with the size of ; 33X19 x 11. As usual he is so excited like the rest of us when we have a new toy! So I promised him I share some pictures of a room quite like his room size/dimension that I visited 1.5 years ago. The room was 35’ x 20’ x 113 ( feet). It belongs to the famous writer / audio reviewers from TAS - Jacob Heilbrunn. I recall that enjoyable evening summer in Washington; the fabulous sonics in my opinion was hugely contributed by Jacob;s meticulous detail in room acoustic( dimension and set up). I recall the low frequency ...just resonate so freely in that room; Magical! I apologise for some of the fuzzy pictures; but I need to put in hopefully to illustrate the room outlook. I was so focus on the music not taking pictures; Ha ha ha. I wish to highlight some pointers below. Jacob;s objective is the same with my friend Sharil - he not only wanted a Audio Room but a nice : Living Space. It was beautiful. comfortable, practical room that one would like to spend long hours there working, relaxing, reading and listening to music and chatting with your family & friends and PARTY TOO.. 1. The low listening red chair is nice ; and at the back of the room the working table + chair is neat too. 2. The built in tall cabinets ( dark blue) on both sides acts as a bass trap and diffusers ( according to Jacob) and so is at the back wall tall cabinets (LPs are kept) and the lower cabinets( white one). 2+1 - storage and audio acoustics. 3. The first point reflection at the back of the speakers are from Rives Audio that he transfer from his previous room and he found it very effective in breaking up sound waves. ( he compared with and without) 4. The ceiling to his surprise; Quote from Jacob despite the height ; wrapping the fibreglass panels in wool made a marked improvement in imaging, focus, and perceived dynamic impact. It audibly reduced smearing Unquote 5. Please note Jacob;s system is very powerful system ...with two subs and a full range speakers...++++ the world class Continuum turntable, DCS ,Ypsilon amps and pre + phone. + top range Transparent cables. 6. For you information Jacob;s dedicated lines are supplied by an Equi=Tech 10kW wall isolation transformer that outputs balanced power.
