Recently I was watching a two week old filly. She was running around, jumping, leaping, doing flying lead changes, fast and slow trots, cantering, stopping, turning. Her mom set boundaries for her, she moved her right and left with energy, backed her, and asked her to stand and to follow.....seems to me that horses know all they need to know from very young. I do not believe we train horses, we create trust and relationship. When we create this trust and relationship we ask them to do all they already know with us on their back, in a buggy, behind a plow or walking beside us. We ask them to do all of these things with us in relationship. Please think about how you are in relationship with your horse, with yourself, with those you love. What openings are you creating to move through the arena, the trail, the world as you and your horse desire.
