Recently Ive been looking into Dandrieu, who throws some - TopicsExpress

Recently Ive been looking into Dandrieu, who throws some interesting light on French pieces with names .. Im wondering does anyone know of a reasonable interpretation of the direction Piqué used in a few pieces of his Second Book? It seems to be particularly associated with pieces featuring arpeggiated / brisé style and/or syncopation between the hands. Howard Ferguson in Style & Interpretation suggests that it points to (over)dotting melodic 8th notes in La Lyre dOrphee (as Loulie explained that term), but this doesnt make all that much sense to me in the light of the other pieces. David Ponsford in his book on French organ music considered that these pieces point to a different meaning of piqué, e.g. in Les Tendres Reproches .. careful notation .. rule[s] out a detached touch and disjunct .. figuration in the RH would be unlikely to be played inegal. But this doesnt point to any specific interpretation as indicated by the word. Any other suggestions?
