Recently a mama cat, Girlfriend, and her 4 kittens were surrendered to us. While the owner was transferring Girlfriend from the car to the shelter, she escaped from her carrier and ran off. Unfortunately, we were not able to find her so we left the carrier and her blanket outside the shelter door with the hope that she would find her way back to a familiar scent. Lo and behold, when the shelter volunteer arrived the next day, she was curled up in the carrier. Although Girlfriend was startled by the volunteer and attempted to run off again, the persistent volunteer was able to capture her and reunite her with the kittens, the Girl Scout Cookies. The kittens are all beautiful fluffy blue/gray tabby 11 week old girls, named Samoa, Tagalong, Shortbread, and Do-Si-Do. Girlfriend and the Cookies will be ready for adoption within the next couple of weeks. As soon as they are available we will post their profiles at panora.org/PETS.
